There is just so much to cover. Despite our efforts to increase our bag count to 275, we were *just* able to cover everyone in our service areas. If you are able, please visit AustinAHH.org/donate to help us get more supplies to pack more bags for this vulnerable community. Thank you SOOO much to all the contributors for this effort: the 9 volunteers on the ground, I Support the Girls - Austin, and the Freethinkers Association of Central Texas. A very special mention of the Atheist Community Of Austin for providing the 200, 31-day passes that were distributed to our main location at I-35 @ 7th, Cesar Chavez @ San Marcos, and (for the 1st time) the large community at I-35 @ TX-290/71. It was GREATLY appreciated by so many out there.
Due to you awesome contributors to our PayPal, we were able to fulfill a special request: a gentleman that was *very* newly homeless met us for the 1st time on Sunday and relayed that he had no shelter nor sleeping bag of any type. After the conclusion of the giveaway, we headed to the store and returned with a sleeping bag and tent in a convenient carrying bag for him. Suffice it to say, there were a few tears when he was handed them (as he had no idea it was coming). Our next pre-packing will be on March 6 @ 3pm with the giveaway to follow on the next day, March 7 @ 9:30am. Once we gather what items are needed, we'll make the events. See you all soon!!
