Bringing in the New Year...With Underwear!!

Much love to our lovely volunteers for both the pre-packing and the hybrid giveaway. Thanks to so many amazing donors out there, we were able to hand out our thermal underwear to 252 people (it was a huge hit!!!). Since we had to use tables for their distribution, we decided to also bring back coffee for this giveaway. By the time we had made it through the line, we were cleaned out of 9 gallons of it.

Thanks to I Support the Girls - Austin, Atheist Community Of Austin, Freethinkers Association of Central Texas, and all the donors for the Winter Drive that helped to bring this giveaway together, including another large set of sleeping bags. ISTG-Austin also contributed special shampoos (including a dry shampoo), hair strengthening washes, and mascara!!

We were all over the map today to spread as much aid around as we could. In addition to our normal giveaway locals of I-35 @ 6-8th Streets and San Marcos @ E. Cesar Chavez, we also visited encampments at:
- I-35 @ E. Cesar Chavez
- I-35 @ Airport Fwy
- TX-183 @ Purnell Dr.
- TX-183 @ N Lamar Blvd
- I-35 @ TX-71/Ben White
- TX-71/Ben White @ Governor's Row
- And the stretch of TX-71/Ben White between I-35 and TX-275 (where the bags finally ran out)

Next month, the plan is to include some seasonal additions to the giveaway bags , but we will return to solely the pre-packaged giveaway method. Saturday, February 6th, will be the prepackaging event at 3:00 p.m., while the giveaway will follow on the 7th at 9:30.
