March 2018 Giveaway Recap!!!!

What a day!!! 23 volunteers, including many first-time attendees, gave out toiletries and other assistance to about 200 folks this morning! Once again, thanks so much to everyone that donated their time, clothing, items and money to make this giveaway happen. Without a doubt, we couldn't do what we do best without your support.

As always, a tremendous thank you to Support the Girls - Austin for the large amount of bras and feminine hygiene products for recipients going through the line. Also, 2 very large bags of clothes came courtesy of Airman's Attic on Lackland Air Force Base. The clothing isle was swarmed as soon as the clothes hit the table.

Shout-out to the Atheist Community of Austin for donations that were left in the Freethought Library and ACA members that helped at the giveaway.

We put out a call for donations on February 28th and, within 24 hours, received quite a few that allowed us to buy additional necessary items, so a huge thank you to all of you!!!

An interesting interaction occurred at this giveaway. An elder gentleman wanted to know why we were out there, but asked in a way that was different. He said "There are times where you get up in the morning and other times where you must peel yourself out of bed. What makes you get up and peel up?" That was an amazing conversation, though we had to cut it short as he began to go through the giveaway line.

We will be back again, as always, on the first Sunday of April, the 1st. Once our inventory is complete, will publish the event and update the items that we need. See ya'll soon!!!
