May's Giveaway is Done!!

Thank you everyone for all of your contributions to make this past giveaway a success on May 6th. We helped over 215 people in just over an hour!!! Shout-out to the 14 volunteers that worked those tables, sorted those items, opened countless packages and gave out aid to our friends and neighbors in Austin.

The weather was breezy and cool under the bridge, but there was a noticable up tick in antagonism. Nothing that affected our giveaway to be sure, but shouting could be heard moreso than usual. Even so, we pressed on.

A wonderful and big thank you to some Airman families (y'all know who y'all are) who donated food, lots of good clothing (folded too!!!), professional clothing, shoes and large purses. The demand for these items, as you can partially see from the pictures, was quite high. In addition, we had more clothes provided from folks around the Austin-Metro area. In addition to giving us clothes, the Airman's Attic on Lackland Air Force Base, Texas provided us with backpacks, duffel bags, and lots of towels. These were extremely welcome by attendees.

Our recap would never be complete without a shout to Support the Girls - Austin, a branch of the national group I Support the Girls, who provided all of the feminine hygiene supplies we could ever need. They make such a huge difference in the lives of women in need in Austin.

Thanks to direct donations to austinahh.org/donate, we were able to purchase additional toothpaste, water and backpacks for the giveaway. Thank y'all SO MUCH for that!!

The next giveaway will be on the 1st Sunday of the month; that gives us June 3rd as the next date. The weather is turning to "Summer - Texas Edition" so towels, sunscreen, sunglasses, caps and cool water will be in the forefront.
