Our Ten-Year Anniversary Was Everything We Hoped it Would Be!! THANK YOU ALL!!

10 years in the bag !!! To everyone that has helped to make these efforts possible, so many people over so many years, we salute you. 30 volunteers came together to make this birthday giveaway happen, from those that picked up the cake, cupcakes and cookies, to those who brought extra tables, clothing, and delicious lemonade. We were able to help 237 of our community who went through the line to get what they need.

Thank you so much to I Support the Girls - Austin of I Support the Girls for coming out not only with feminine hygiene products but extra hands to help work the tables and traffic. You've helped to make a difference directly in the lives the Austin community for years and we appreciate everything you do.

Shout out to the makers of the lemonade and coffee this morning. Even though the heat is unrelenting here in Texas, 4 1/2 gallons of coffee was consumed fairly early into the giveaway. The lemonade was delicious and cold which made for a potent pair.

This time around, we had 200 31-day bus passes courtesy of the Atheist Community of Austin. This is a part of a pilot program to distribute these monthly passes once every quarter into the community to ease the burdens of travel, whether it be to the office of a social worker, to the hospital or clinic, to work, to shelters in the area, or to private companies that periodically provide services to low-income individuals. When people realized the length of the pass, it was overwhelming with the amount of gratitude shown. Phil oversaw the distribution to ensure only one pass was received per person, even if someone re-entered the line.

Thank you to the Freethinkers Association of Central Texas for grabbing us some water and hair grease for the birthday giveaway. Shout out to Friendly Atheist for putting out the APB for crucial supplies that were incorporated for this giveaway. We always love you. We also had the Hotline Director for Recovering from Religion, Todd, join us for this special giveaway.

We sincerely hope that all of the volunteers thar came out for the first time had as much of a wonderful and impactful experience as us regulars did. The 1st Sunday, every month, 9:15am, there we will be.
